Reading Challenge!

Start each day by speed reading words in one of the Reading Challenges. It is really important that we read many words instantly to build up fluency and speed. Go and choose your challenge now by clicking the man below! 

All worksheets to accompany the following activities can be found on Teams. Please complete all tasks before handing in your work. Don't forget to use the 'turn in' function when you have finished your work.  Also look out for feedback when I return your work. 

Maths        

10 in 10 (10 minutes of mental maths)

Get practising your multiples ready for the return to school next week. Chose the X train and practise the multiple you are currently on. Practise the ones you already know too to sharpen your skills.

Read the text and answer the questions using the comprehension strategies taught in school. Remember to underline key words in the question and match them (or similar words in the text. This will help you to retrieve the answer. Check that your answers actually answer the question. Complete the activity in Teams.

Science: 

Materials: Which materials float and sink?

In this lesson, we will be investigating different materials and their properties. We will be exploring which materials float and which materials sink, then we will be making comparisons while looking at their properties. Do all hard materials sink? Do all soft materials float? You will need a piece of paper and a pencil. If you would like to take part in the experiment you will need a coin or small metal object, a cotton ball or pad, stones, a pencil and a bowl of water. Otherwise, you can watch the teacher conduct the experiment while observing the outcomes. Complete the Sink or Float sheet on Teams.

Daily Reading 

You must read your reading book every day, just as we do in school. We do this after lunch but you can do it whenever you like! An adult must sign your diary to show this has taken place. You can of course read some of your own books at home to supplement reading. It would be great if this could be recorded in your diary too.
