Below is an email that I have received from Kirkby College.
I have also added some activities that they have asked you to do to prepare yourself for moving up to secondary school.
“We are aware that transition to secondary school can be a worrying time for Year 6 students and never more so than now when times are uncertain. However, at Kirkby College we are committed to ensuring that the transition process goes as smoothly as possible for your child whatever the circumstances. We are, therefore, sending you the first of our transition activities for your child to complete.
We will be following this up in the near future with a further transition booklet.
The school has well developed plans for its transition days either to take place in the summer term as usual or in September, dependent upon when the government allows schools to reopen. This includes meetings for parents as well as time in school for students. We are also updating our Parent Handbook and will ensure you receive a copy of this during the summer term; hopefully at our face to face session but if not as a printed copy. This contains all of the key information you might need to help make the transition to Kirkby College a success for your child.
Please be assured that we are still working closely with all of the your child’s primary teachers to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.
We look forward to you joining the Kirkby College community and welcoming you to our school.
Mr Crookes, Assistant Headteacher”
