Welcome to Elm Class!
Welcome back to a new school year!
We hope you've had a lovely summer break. We have lots of exciting things to look forward to over the coming weeks!
Our curriculum will have a Geography and History focus in the first part of the term, when we will be learning all about the United Kingdom and London, in preparation for our topic on the Great Fire of London.
After half-term, we will have a different History focus, when we will be considering what life would have been like for our grandparents when they were children.
The story we will be studying over the next few weeks is 'Old Bear' by Jane Hissey. We will learn all about the plot and characters, and will use our knowledge and skills of these to write our own stories about rescuing a friend. We will also be doing a non-fiction unit of work on instructions and will be writing our own set of instructions for making bread.
We will continue to focus on phonics and handwriting, as a priority. We know the children work hard to practice these in school and it would be great to hear that they are doing this at home too!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
