Meet the Governors

NEWSTEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY.

The Role of the Governing Body

The Governing Body forms a key part of every school and works closely with the head teacher, staff and local authority. It oversees the strategic leadership of the school, providing support and challenge to help the head teacher in moving the school forward and ensures that the school functions well in terms of standards, staffing, curriculum, finance and premises.

Membership of the Governing Body

The Governing Body of the school elected to reconstitute under the School Governance Regulations in September 2022. The Governing Body consists of four Co-opted Governors, one appointed Local Authority Governor, two elected Parent Governors, one Staff Governor and the Head Teacher. The governing body operates as two committees, the Finance, General Purposes and Personnel Committee and the Pupil and Strategic Development Committee. Mr Andy Raynor is the chair of each committee.
