Summer

Why is our world so amazing?

&

How do I know if it is safe to cross the bridge?

During Summer 2, we will appreciate that we share our planet with many creatures. We will look closely at plants, animals and insects that are around us and enjoy a trip to Twycross Zoo. We will begin to notice certain patterns in the natural world, eg a spider spinning a web, ice melting, rainbows and the sun going behind clouds. We will explore the story 'Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis and Gwen Millward. It is a lovely story which will enable us to retrieve information and start to infer characters' feelings from the pictures and text. Finally we will design and make a bridge to help the Three Billy Goats gruff. We will link this learning to prior learning about London Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

What are the differences between our country and other countries?

We will explore our village, our country and our capital city of London. We will then take our passport and travel and explore different places around the world.

Our book this term will be 'Handa's Surprise' by Eileen Browne
